Today there are no ruins of the ancient city of Lampsakos, which is the ancient city of the district. It is said to be the first coin minting city in the Troas region. It is said that important names such as Kharon, naturalist Anaksagoras, Metrodoros and Anaksimenes, who grew up in Lampsakos in the 2nd century BC, made Lampsakos one of the famous centers of science and philosophy.
