Gallipoli Namazgah (Azepler Namazgah)

The open air prayer place (namazgah) is located on a hill that overlooks Dardanelles and according to the inscriptions on it was built in 1407 by Aşık son of Ladikli Süleyman by command of Beşoğlu İskender Bey. 

This structure which was fundamentally built to be an open air mosque is considered the most important open air prayer place (namazgah) in Anatolia. It is also known as Azepler open air prayer place and was built so that commanders can pray together with their armies.
