The village which is located in the North of Eceabat and 4,5 km away from the Dardanelles and on the southern slopes of the Taşlı Tepe is also called ”Çamyayla” and “Boğalı”. Bigalı village and nearby places have become the headquarter of the 19th division in April 1915. The house which Atatürk stayed in during the battles has later become “Ataturk’s house and museum” and one of the most important attraction points of the peninsula. On 26 March 1915, the 19th division which was appointed as the general reserve division of the 5th army gets settled in Bigalı village and nearby places. Till the morning of 25 April it stayed there and performed military exercise. Mustafa Kemal who arrived on 19 April with his division stayed in this house until he headed for the frontlines
The house which is known as “Ataturk’s house and Museum in Bigalı” carries the traces of regional architecture. It has 2 rooms downstairs including the entrance, and upstairs it has three rooms and a balcony and also has a small patio. It is been turned into a museum in 1973 and the work table Atatürk used when he stayed there is also exhibited.
The square of the Bigalı village, the houses who oversee the village square and the houses on the way to Ataturk’s house have been restored in 2006 and opened for visits.
