Ayazma Faır

According to the legend, the young and beautiful Paraskevi became infatuated with a handsome young man living in Ayyalus Monastery on a high hill, nowadays called Göztepe. Realizing the situation, his father put Paraskevi on probation in Ayazma. Sometimes, the girl, who was in love with her, wanted to send a message to her lover by the wind, looking at the hill and sighing herself. The young man in the monastery likewise flamed with her love. Eventually, they could not come together; however, when the girl died with her tormenting love, a wish fountain constructed there for those people who wish to pray for the memory of her great love.

The event takes place on July 26th of each year. The event begins with the ritual ceremony held in the Ayazma Monastery. The ceremony, which is held on the occasion of Aya Paraskevi Day, takes place in the Çanakkale Bozcaada Ayazma Monastery. The orthodox people from different regions of the country and the world participate in this religious ceremony. After the ritual, tables are set up at the fair, and people dance in the accompany of the music. The fair keeps on continuing until late at night.
