The Şahindere Martyrdom, one of the true martyr’s cemetery that are able to be identified, is located on the top of Çınarlıdere on the left side of the road after passing the Soğanlıdere location. It is similar to Soğanlıdere Martyrdom in terms of architectural structure. The triangular conical monument rising on the center of a moon and star represents the rise of our martyrs to the sky. Our martyrs are remembered with 132 kabalak stones placed on the ground. In the upper part of the sepulchral monuments section; however, we see that the real martyrdom area is marked and preserved.
The Şahindere Martyrs Cemetery (Şüheda Kabristanı) is on the Seddülbahir Front Line; in other words, it remains at the southern frontline. Due to the existence of water and shading trees in the region and as well as being a calm and sheltered area, one of the large health treatment places behind the frontline was established in this location during the war period.
Throughout the battles after July 5, 1915, some of the left-wing units’ soldiers, who were injured but then martyred, also lie in the graves of this martyrdom. Some of the martyrs who died at the Battles of Seddülbahir, Kerevizdere and Kirte, which was intensified in April – June – July period, were also buried in Şahindere Martyrdom.
