Arıburnu Cliffs and Yukseksırt

Arıburnu cliffs are a natural steep formation and was called “sphinx” by the Anzac soldiers due to the structure of the land. Before coming to Gallipoli Peninsula, the Anzac soldiers were trained in Egypt and saw the sphinx, the protector of the pyramids. This hill rises from the earth like a protector of the Gallipoli Peninsula. That’s why they called it “sphinx”
